Finding Your Fulcrum

How to Obtain Career/Life Equilibrium

For many of us life is a constant tug-of-war between the demands of business pitted against the need to have a life. On the personal side we strive for high-powered positions, homes in prestigious neighbourhoods, model personal relationships, a low golf handicap, multiple degrees, and community involvement etc. On the corporate side we are expected to do increasingly more and more with less resources all the while being available 24/7. Change, re-structuring, spin-offs, and lay-offs are the current business norm causing incredible anxiety for employees seeking stability, predictability and a balanced life. The result of this constant conflict is well documented as poor performance, absenteeism, and employee turnover on the corporate side and exhaustion, burnout, health problems, marriage and dysfunctional families on the personal side. The cost of this fall-out has serious health and financial consequences for both the individual and the company.

With “Finding Your Fulcrum” we present proven tools for responding to the growing desire to achieve a state of equilibrium with regard to our careers and our personal lives. This workshop is predicated on the belief that true balance is something that is attained over the course of a lifetime and that the key, at any given point in time, is having a clear understanding of one’s priorities. Participants gain a better understanding of “why we do the things we do”, strategies for establishing priorities, and a clear action plan for moving forward to attain balance. Companies gain the competitive advantage of implementing support systems to proactively assist employees challenged by work/life balance issues ultimately increasing employee engagement and reducing turnover. The outcomes for the individual are feeling more in control, having greater clarity about needs, a sense of current choices and future possibilities and ultimately, a happier, more focused and winning career. The benefits for the company are a more contented, more engaged and productive employee, improved retention, and ultimately significant savings in replacement, turnover, and retraining costs.

This workshop has received rave reviews and return engagements at several professional conferences.

Attracting and Retaining New Talent

Strengthening Your Recruitment and Management Practices
To Improve Retention of Gen Y

Headlines today consistently refer to the lack of retaining talent as the biggest threat to corporate profitability. If your company is like most, you are experiencing the challenges of adapting to a generation that does not respond well to prevailing corporate paradigms. Generation Yers—those people entering the workforce today for the first time—may be applying to jobs in droves, but are they really engaged once hired?

With this workshop we present the challenges companies face in attracting this new breed of talent, and offer solutions to develop an effective recruitment and retention strategy. We will draw on extensive experience in working with the three stakeholders involved in the recruitment of Generation Y-- the candidate, the educational institution, and the hiring organization. They share their in-depth understanding of the special competencies, specific personal characteristics, and high expectations that this generation brings to the workplace. They offer models of successful recruitment strategies and show your company how to implement a best practices approach to attract and retain and to profit with this up and coming generation of leaders.

TSI Group’s experts are sought after speakers for showing organizations how to be successful with Generation Y and have authored several articles on this topic to critical acclaim.
